GVCI
SPONSORSHIP & PRODUCT IMPLEMENTATION
Roles and responsibilities for this project included account management, partnerships, and event marketing.
The Greater Vancouver Charity Invitational (GVCI) is an annual charity golf tournament hosted by Adam Hadwin, a Canadian professional golfer and PGA Tour champion. The event aims to raise funds for the CHILD Foundation to support research for curing children with liver disorders. As a tournament sponsor, Fobi provided its digital ticketing technology, and I led the product implementation team to ensure the solution delivered maximum value to GVCI and its attendees.
One of our biggest challenges was introducing unfamiliar technology without compromising the visitor experience. We integrated educational visuals into confirmation texts and emails to tackle this. This approach resulted in a remarkable 72% ticket download rate within a week, setting the foundation for a successful event.

With a high number of active tickets, we designed an effective campaign to enhance the attendee experience before, during, and after the event. By announcing new auction items, creating countdowns, and providing exciting updates, we built up anticipation and excitement leading up to the event. Sporadic location references and agenda reminders also helped prevent challenges encountered in previous years.
To further increase downloads, we hosted a giveaway at Fobi’s booth to reward attendees who held a digital ticket and encourage others to download it on-site. The result was a successful event with high visitor engagement, and 98% of the visitors were aware of and delighted with Fobi’s capabilities.
GVCI benefited from a new marketing channel and a campaign that promoted next year’s event, while the CHILD Foundation raised $160,000. Overall, guests had a wonderful time, and Fobi’s ticketing technology proved valuable to the tournament.
